Dup-Detect Alternative for Finding and Fixing Duplicate Transactions in QuickBooks Online
Features checked against Dup-Detect's own site on October 6, 2026 · LedgerMedic
Short answer: Dup-Detect and LedgerMedic overlap only partly. Dup-Detect describes itself as duplicate detection for QuickBooks Online and Xero, aimed at duplicate bills, invoices and payments.1 LedgerMedic works on QuickBooks Online only and looks at the money-in side: a customer payment, sales receipt or deposit entered twice, plus payments stuck in Undeposited Funds and Unapplied Cash Payment Income. If you use Xero, or your duplicates are mostly vendor bills you are about to pay twice, Dup-Detect is the one that says it covers that and LedgerMedic does not.
The manual way: find a duplicate customer payment or deposit yourself
- Run the Transaction List by Date report for the period, filtered to payments, sales receipts and deposits, and sort by customer and then amount.
- Look for the same customer, same amount and the same or neighbouring date. Open both and compare the reference number, the deposit-to account and the memo. Two real payments of the same amount are common; one payment keyed twice, or imported by the bank feed and also entered by hand, is the duplicate.
- Check where each one went. If both sit in Undeposited Funds, only one can match the real bank deposit. If one went straight to the bank account, the bank balance is counted twice.
- Void the copy you are sure is wrong rather than deleting it, so the audit trail stays, and re-run the register to confirm the balance now matches the bank.
The detailed versions are in how to find duplicate transactions, a customer payment recorded twice and void or delete a duplicate sales receipt. Want a count of what is stuck first? The free Undeposited Funds checker works from a pasted list, with no signup.

The two products are not like for like, so a price comparison would mislead. Compare what each one covers against the duplicates you actually have.
When Dup-Detect is the better choice
- You use Xero, or both Xero and QuickBooks Online. LedgerMedic does not support Xero.
- Your worry is paying the same vendor bill twice (the accounts payable side). LedgerMedic does not scan bills.
- You want detection of duplicate invoices, which LedgerMedic does not look for.
When LedgerMedic is the better choice
- The duplicates are on the money-in side: a customer payment recorded twice, a doubled sales receipt or a duplicated deposit, often after a bank feed match.
- You also suspect Undeposited Funds or Unapplied Cash Payment Income are stuck, and want one scan that counts all of it. The scan is free and uncapped.
- You want the source transaction repaired with a preview and your confirmation, not only flagged.
- You manage several client files and want one dashboard across them.
Find out how many duplicate and stuck payments are in your file before you pay for anything. LedgerMedic is free to connect and scan, with no credit card and no scan limit, and includes 6 lifetime guided fixes. Start the free scan.
